Chemax SBR Latex 51 is modified styrene-butadiene rubber emulsion specially designed for use as a bonding aid and gouging liquid for cementations systems. It is resistant to hydrolysis and can, therefore, be used for external applications too.

Uses For modifying and improving bonding of floor toppings, renderings and mortars; repair of worn, damaged and spalled concrete, repair of large cracks; polymer modified floor screeds; waterproof plasters for masonry and slurries.

Application instructions

  • Surface Preparation The object of the surface preparation is to achieve a clean sound surface with a good mechanical key. All substrates should be cleaned and free of dust, plaster, oil, paint, grease, corrosion deposits, and any other deleterious substances. Laitance should be removed by mechanical means. Smooth substrates must be mechanically roughened e.g. by scabbling, needle gun or grit blasting to provide an adequate key. Corroded reinforcing steel should be exposed around its full circumference and cleaned to remove all loose scale and corrosion deposits. It is always preferable to clean the steel to a bright condition. Use of emery cloth, grit or sandblasting is recommended
  • Priming Reinforcing steel must be primed with Chemex Primer immediately after cleaning. The concrete substrate should be thoroughly dampened with water and any excess water removed before being primed by thoroughly scrubbing in a slurry coat of 1 volume Chemax SBR Latex 51 to 1 volume water to 3 volumes fresh cement. In order to obtain a smooth consistency, the cement should be blended slowly into the liquids. Stir frequently during use to offset settlement. Avoid 'puddling' of the slurry coat. The topping must be applied on to the wet slurry. If the slurry dries out it must be removed and the clean substrate reprimed

Precautions

  • Health & Safety instructions Chemax SBR Latex 51 should not come in contact with skin and eyes or be swallowed. Protective gloves and goggles should be worn during handling the product. If contact with skin occurs, wash well with soap and water. Eye contamination should be washed thoroughly with clean water and medical advice sought. If swallowed seek medical attention immediately - Do not induce vomiting

    CX Joint Sealant PU is elastic, single component, self-leveling, moisture curing polyurethane sealant specifically developed to be used as a multi-purpose floor joint sealant in applications where high chemical resistance to fuels, oils and hydrocarbons is required.     Surface preparation:
    Joint surfaces must be dry, clean and free of all contamination. Glass, metal and other non-porous surfaces must be free of any coatings and wiped clean with solvent. Precast panels using form-release agents other than polyethylene film must be sandblasted or mechanically abraded and dust free.

     

    Priming:

    CX Joint Sealant PU has excellent adhesion properties even without the use of primer on most common building materials. However, natural stone, paints, coatings and other treatments of surfaces may presents a difficult surface to which to adhere. Due to the number of unpredictable natures of these substrates, a preliminary test is recommended. PU Primer may be required for porous surfaces.

     

    Application:
    Recommended application temperatures: 5° - 35°C. For easier use or cold weather application we recommend the material is stored at approximately 25°C prior to use. In order to guarantee free movement of sealant in joints, it is imperative that the sealant does not adhere to the bottom of the joint, therefore joint backer rod should be used at the proper depth. Apply appropriate primer to joint sides and observe waiting time to avoid any air bubbles which may arise from the solvent heating under un-cured sealant. Firmly extrude sealant into the joint making sure that it is in full contact with the sides of the joint and with the backing rod at the bottom. Keep the nozzle in the sealant, continue on with a steady flow of sealant preceding the nozzle to avoid air entrapment. Avoid overlapping of sealant to eliminate entrapment of air.

      Description: Chemax Epbond is based on solvent free epoxy resins containing pigments and fine fillers. It is supplied as a two-part material in pre-weighed quantities for ready onsite mixing and use. Colored components -white base and green hardener - provide visual evidence that adequate mixing is achieved.

      Design criteria: Chemax Epbond is designed with an overlay time of 10 hrs at 20 0 C, 6 hours at 30 0 C making it more suitable for use where additional steel reinforcement and formwork has to be fitted or where temperature is high. The minimum application temperature for Chemax Epbond is 10 0 C. Consult the local Chemax office for further information.

      Specification clauses: The bonding agent shall be CHEMAX EPBOND an epoxy based two component resin systemprepacked in distinct colors to give visual evidence for proper mixing. The bonding agent should remain in tacky state after application for a minimum period of 6 hours at 300C. There shall not be bond failure of the specimen when tested by slant shear method according to BS 6319 pt 4, with M30 concrete.

      Application instructions:Preparation: All surfaces to be treated must be firm, dust free and clean. All laitance should be removed by etching with re cleaner and wire-brushing. In some cases, the existing concrete must be chipped to a sound substrate. Where surfaces are contaminated with oil or grease, this should be removed by using a strong industrial detergent or organic degreaser. Surface should be washed thoroughly with water and dried before the application of CHEMAX EPBOND.

      Mixing: The entire contents of the hardener can should be poured into the resin container and the two materials thoroughly mixed until a uniform color is obtained. To facilitate application at temperatures below 10 0C the separate components should be warmed in hot water to a maximum of 250C before mixing.

      Coating: Mixed CHEMAX EPBOND should be brush applied to the prepared surface. The new concrete should beplaced within 6 hours at 300C to the CHEMAX EPBOND coated substrate, when it is in a tacky state.

      Limitations: CHEMAX EPBOND should not be applied when the temperature is below 100C. If any doubts arise concerning temperature or substrate conditions, consult the local CHEMAX office.

      Instructions For Use

      Surface Preparation The substrate must be clean, sound, and free from dust and all traces of oil and laitance. A spatter dash slurry coat (Chemax Primer/Chemax Sbr 44) should be applied as a key coat for improved bonding & adhesion of subsequent layers. A few hours before the application of Cx Fastplast, dampen the rush coat with clean water.

      Surface Preparation Mix manually or mechanically Cx Fastplast Powder with 1/3 Part of clean water until a homogeneous paste is obtained. Let the mix rest for a few minutes. If a spraying machine is used, the mixing is carried out automatically

      Product Applications Apply the plaster on the prepared surface by spraying it or manually with a plastering trowel at a thickness between 10 and 20 mm in one layer. Finish the surface with a wooden or steel float as required. Let the product set properly on the surface before any curing. If more thickness is required, the application should be done in two layers. The 1st layer should be roughened then cured. The 2nd layer should be applied at least 48 hrs after the 1st one

      Curing Protect the newly applied plaster from sunshine and wind. The new plaster has to be cured with water for at least three days by spraying 3 to 4 times daily

      Consumption Approximately 1.6 kg/m2 per 1 mm thickness

      Packaging Cx Fastplast is packed in 40 kg industrial bag

      Storage Store for 6 months after manufacturing date, in its original packaging, open and in dry area

      Safety Precautions The product contains cement powders which, when mixed with water, release alkalis that could be harmful to the skin. It is preferable that the application is done in a ventilated area, and to wear protective gear for hands, eyes and respiratory system and to avoid breathing of the dust. Splashes on the skin
      should be washed away by cleaning with soap and water. In case of contact with eyes, wash thoroughly with clean water. If swallowed, do not induce vomiting, in both cases seek medical attention.

      Description: CX Superplast is a premixed ready to use cement based mortar for external as well as internal plaster, which ensures quality consistency. CX Superplast is a mixture of graded inert fillers, additives, binder.

      Properties:

      Application:

      • Mixing: Take the precise quantity of water & pour into a mechanical mixer or can be loaded into plastering machine and slowly add the CX Superplast mortar into the mixer at a ratio of 0.15 W/P ratio and mix it thoroughly for the application
      • Application: Ensure substrate is cleaned, oil grease, paints, and traces of foreign material that may affect adhesion. Wet the surface thoroughly and apply CX Superplast to achieve uniform thickness and level surface. Mixed CX Superplast after adding water, should be used within 60 minutes
      • Curing: Water curing is recommended after 12 hours and to be continued for at least 7 days. Alternatively curing by CX Supercure WB curing compound is recommended.


      Coverage: 40 kg. Bag of bag CX Superplast will cover 14 to16 ft 2 in 14 to 15 mm thickness the coverage depends upon the substrate.

      Application instructions:
      • Cleaning brickwork: A small trial area should be cleaned first to determine the most suitable Chemax Super Clean cleaning agent dilution. Pre-wet the brickwork, then using a sponge, rub the affected areas with a solution of Chemax Super Clean cleaning agent and water. The strength of the solution required will vary but should be between 1:1 and 1:4 (by volume of Chemax Super Clean cleaning agent to water). When the action has finished, wash down thoroughly with clean water. Cleaning large items of equipment: E.g. Ready-mix trucks, concrete mixers, barrows, etc. Chemax Super Clean cleaning agent should be liberally applied to the deposits by a soft broom and allowed to soak overnight if possible. If the surfaces of the deposit can be cracked by mechanical means this will speed up the operation in severe cases more than one application may be necessary. On completion, dissolved deposits and loose material should be wire brushed and washed away with clean water
      • Cleaning small tools: Use Chemax Super Clean as a dip. The tools should be soaked overnight, then taken out and washed with clean water to remove all loosely adhering materials. Care should be taken to avoid prolonged contact between Chemax Super Clean and zinc or aluminum parts of tools, e.g. rivets, etc.
      • Cleaning concrete floors: Pre-wet the floors, then using a stiff bristle broom, brush the affected areas with a solution of Chemax Super Clean and water. The strength of the solution required will vary but should be between 1:1 and 1:4 (Chemax Super Clean cleaning agent to water). When the action has finished, wash down thoroughly with clean water
      • Removal of rust and mill scale: Pre-wet the floors, then using a stiff bristle broom, brush the affected areas with a solution of Chemax Super Clean and water. Strength of the solution required will vary but should be between 1:1 and 1:4 (Chemax Super Clean water). When the action has finished, wash down thoroughly with clean water. Wire brush again to remove remaining loose material and finish by thoroughly washing down with clean water. Repeat if necessary. High degree of rust or scale can be removed by soaking in the Chemax Super Clean solution for 60 minutes
      • Etching concrete floors: For etching surfaces to remove Laitance and give a mechanical key before applying resin or another coating, Chemax Super Clean cleaning agent should be diluted with water and applied at the rate of approximately 1 liter/2 M 2. The dilution will depend upon the condition of the floors and the degree of etching required, but normally it will be between 1:2 and 1:4.       • Dispensing: The measured quantity of CX Supercon 110 Plus should be added along with the gauging water. It should be noted that CX Supercon 110 Plus should be thoroughly stirred before use. For best results CX Supercon 110 Plus should be added in wet mixes
      • Over dosing: An over dose of double the normal quantity can result in set retardation

      Application instructions:

      Dosage: The optimum dosage is best determined by site trials with the concrete mix which enables the effects of
      workability, strength gain or cement reduction to be measured. Site trials with CX Superconcrete 440 should always be compared with mix containing no admixture. As a guide, the rate of addition is generally in the range of 0.5 - 2.0 liters / 100 kg cement.

      Over dosing: An over dose of double the recommended amount of CX Superconcrete 440 will result in very high workability and some retardation of setting time will occur. However, the ultimate compressive strength will not be impaired.

      Dispensing: The measured quantity of CX Superconcrete 440 should be added along with the gauging water. For best results, add CX Superconcrete 440 superplasticiser in the last phase after prewetting the mix with 80% of the total water required.

      Application instructions
      Preparation

      • Foundation surface The substrate surface must be free from oil, grease or any loosely adherent material. If the concrete surface is defective or has laitance, it must be cut back to a sound base. Bolt holes and fixing pockets must be blown clean of any dirt or debris
      • Pre-soaking Several hours prior to placing, the concrete substrates should be saturated with fresh water. Immediately before grouting takes place any free water should be removed with particular care being taken to blow out all bolt holes and pockets
      • Base plate It is essential that this is clean and free from oil, grease or scale. Air pressure relief holes should be provided to allow venting of any isolated high spots
      • Leveling shims If these are to be removed after the grout has hardened, they should be treated with a thin layer of grease
      • Form-work The form-work should be constructed to be leak proof. This can be achieved by using foam rubber strip or mastic sealant beneath the constructed form-work and between joints. In some cases it is practical to use sacrificial
        semi-dry sand and cement form-work. The form-work should include outlets for pre-soaking
      • Unrestrained surface area This must be kept to a minimum. Generally the gap width between the perimeter form-work and the plate edge should not exceed 150mm on the pouring side and 50mm on the opposite side. It is advisable, where practical, to have no gap at the flank sides

        Mixing and placing

        • Mixing For best results a mechanically powered grout mixer should be used. When quantities up to 50kg are used, a heavy duty slow speed drill (400-500 rpm) fitted with a paddle is suitable.                   CX Supercure WB is a white, low viscosity wax emulsion which incorporates a special alkali reactive emulsion breaking system. This system ensures that the emulsion breaks down to form a non-penetrating continuous film immediately upon contact with a cementitious surface. This impervious film prevents excessive water evaporation which in turn permits more efficient cement hydration, thus reducing shrinkage and increasing durability. Once formed, the membrane will remain on the concrete
                  surface until eventually broken down and eroded by natural weathering. Where it is required to apply a further treatment to such concrete surface, it may be necessary to remove the membrane remaining after curing by wire brushing or other Mechanical means.                     Application instructions:

                    • Preparation of new molds: No preparation is necessary, but if extensive reuse of timber mold is envisaged, it is advisable to protect all new surfaces with CX Easy Mold. CX Easy Mold protects timber from alkali attack which can result in a very short usable life. For used molds, all traces of cement must be removed together with any surface deposit of previous oils.
                    • Coating: CX Easy Mold can be applied by brush, sponge or conventional mold oil-sprayer. If a mold oil-sprayer
                      is used, care should be taken to ensure that the correct nozzle size is chosen. Stir the contents of the container
                      thoroughly before use. Apply one coat of CX Easy Mold thinly and evenly over the entire surface. Only the thinnest coating necessary to achieve effective coverage should be applied. Excess application is uneconomical and may lead to surface dusting. Wipe or brush off any particles that may remain on the surface and apply one coat of CX Easy Mold as
                      previously. If it is required to remove CX Easy Mold completely, a strong industrial detergent should be applied

                        Application instructions:

If the solution is not used the same day, it should be stirred again before use and may require very good stirring after 5 days
                        • New Moulds: No preparation is normally necessary Metal molds showing signs of rust, must be wire brushed or Treated with emery cloth and burnished clean before coating
                        • New timber: Plywood will give superior results
                        • Used molds: Must be thoroughly clean and free from old concrete, dirt, cement laitance, old mold oil and other contaminations. Use a strong detergent for removal of oil and grease; Recliner for cement and concrete deposits
                        • Application: Apply the CX Easy Mold EX. 1:6 water dilution to the face of the form-work by spray, brush or cloth. Only one coat should be applied (as thinly as possible except on very absorbent new timber where two coats may be necessary for the first application only) and allow to dry. If the form-work is not used for several days, a further coat may be applied. Only a very thin film of CX Easy Mold EX. should be applied. Excess could lead to surface dusting of the concrete. The best results are obtained by applying with a fine mist sprayer. Where a cloth is used, it should first be soaked in the release agent and then squeezed out well before applying. This ensures the thinnest possible film. CX Easy Mold EX. is not generally recommended where remolding is required within 24 hours, although excellent results may be obtained with shorter times
                        • Drying time: It is essential that the CX Easy Mold EX. is thoroughly dry before placing concrete. Otherwise, being an emulsion, its performance may be impaired. In condition of high humidity drying times will be much longer than in warm dry conditions
                        • Rainfall: It is necessary to protect freshly coated form-work from rain which may dilute the emulsion before it has
                          dried. After drying the coating will withstand an occasional lightly shower but may be affected by heavy or continuous rain. In such cases, a further coat is advised once surfaces have dried out thoroughly 
                        • De-molding: De-molding can be carried out in the normal way and no special precautions are necessary. 
                        • After De-molding: Form-work surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned, but this is normally easy due to the excellent
                          release action 
                        • Before re-use: The cleaned form-work surfaces must be Re-coated with CX Easy Mold EX. each time, in accordance with normal practice.

                        Application instructions:

                        Dosage: The optimum dosage is best determined by site trials with the concrete mix which enables the effects of workability, strength gain or cement reduction to be measured. Site trials with CX SUPERCONCRETE 530 should always be compared with mix containing no admixture. As a guide, the rate of addition is generally in the range of 0.5 - 1.5 % by weight of cement.

                        Over dosing: An over dose above the recommended level of admixture may result in high workability, air entrainment and retardation of setting time depending on the ambient temperature of cure. As such, more than the recommended dosage may be used if necessary by ascertaining the performance in the lab trials only before using in actual site conditions.

                        Dispensing: The correct quantity of CX SUPERCONCRETE 530 should be used by means of a dispenser. The measured quantity of CX SUPERCONCRETE 530 should be added along with the gauging water in case of batching plants. Alternatively, correct dosage should be used with about 20% of the total water in the last phase after the mix has been prewetted.

If the moisture content of the sand or aggregate changes i.e., it becomes wetter or dryer, and then the amount of water used must be reduced or increased to give the original workability.

The material is a combination of a plasticizing agent and a gas producing expansion medium.                               In order to guarantee free movement of sealant in joints, it is imperative that the sealant does not adhere to the bottom of the joint, therefore joint backer rod or bond breaker tape should be used at the proper depth. Mix the base and the curing agent.CX Joint Sealant PS can be poured directly from the can in to the joint or can be poured in to a barrel applicator and extruded into the joint from the applicator. Pour or firmly extrude sealant into

                                CX Supeercure W is a white, low viscosity water based which incorporates a special alkali reactive emulsion breaking system. This system ensures that the emulsion breaks down to form a non-penetrating continuous film immediately upon contact with a cementitious surface. This impervious film prevents excessive water evaporation which in turn permits more efficient cement hydration, thus reducing shrinkage and increasing durability. Once formed, the membrane will remain on the concrete
                                surface until eventually broken down and eroded by natural weathering. Where it is required to apply a further treatment to such concrete surface, it may be necessary to remove the membrane remaining after curing by wire brushing or other Mechanical means. The use of curing membranes on internal floor slabs is generally to be avoided where additional surface finishes are to be applied. CX Supercure W is however ideal where the concrete surface of a floor slab is to be left as 'finished'.

                                Uses:

                                For spraying on freshly cast concrete, or newly exposed concrete surfaces after removal of form work, to form a temporary membrane which will retain sufficient moisture for effective curing to take place. Used for concreting generally but especially useful for large areas of concrete such as pavements, runways and bridge decks; also for vertical or sloping surfaces as on towers, chimneys, canal linings, columns and beams, where water curing is difficult or unreliable.

                                Application instructions:

                                • Application:
                                • Exposed concrete slabs: CB SUPERCURE W should be spray applied on to the newly placed concrete slab as soon as possible after it is free from visible surface water, e.g. typically 1 to 2 hours after placing.
                                • Shuttered and precast concrete: CX Supercure W curing agent should be spray applied to all surfaces as soon as formwork has been removed or the element demoulded. In all cases the nozzle of the spray should be held approximately 450mm from the concrete surface and should be passed back and forth to ensure complete and even coverage. The pump pressure should be maintained at a level to produce a fine spray ensuring complete coverage of the surface. Rate of application depends on requirements but is typically within the range of 200 to 285 ml/m2
                                • Equipment cleaning: Immediately after use the spray equipment should be cleaned out thoroughly with fresh water. If the spray nozzle becomes blocked with wax particles these can easily be removed using white spirit or similar fluid

                                • Storage: CX Supercure W has a shelf life of 6 months when stored at temperatures between 5 0 C and 35 0 C. Containers should be kept airtight to prevent surface evaporation. Freezing or prolonged exposure to direct heat or sunlight must be avoided
